I created this piece in memory of a dear friend and former colleague who passed away, much too soon. One of my strongest memories of him is that he was singing “The Last Supper” from Jesus Christ Superstar with me and other friends, playing the guitar, and somehow the main phrase was changed to “Always hoped that I'd be an opossum” (instead of “apostle”), which became a nice running gag that I will always associate with him, as well as this song.
