A Romantic Chocolate Box Design
I created and designed this packaging concept for lovers of fine chocolates and romantic aesthetics. I had a visual and sensory experience in mind. Designed as a heart-shaped chocolate box for Valentine's Day or any romantic occasion, this packaging brings together detailed illustration, elegant hand lettering, and an engaging storytelling approach.
Inside, the chocolates are crafted with white and dark chocolate, infused with delicate rose and champagne flavors—an indulgence for chocolate lovers who appreciate both taste and design.
This concept puts you into a dreamy, surreal landscape where love is everywhere—where every being has its perfect match. It tells the story of a graceful couple that revels in each other’s presence, immersed in a world of beauty and indulgence. A pair of love-struck dogs play together, while two cats cuddle in the distance. Swans glide elegantly across a golden champagne pool, set against rolling hills and soft, billowing clouds. Here, romance is not just a feeling—it is the essence of the world itself.
This is the story woven into the "Rose Romance" chocolate box. It is an invitation to step into a world of love, luxury, and shared moments. Designed for special occasions like Valentine's Day, this box is perfect as a gift—an expression of affection wrapped in rich illustration and elegant hand lettering.
From Concept to Completion: The Creative Process of the packaging illustration and design
Inspiration: A Love for Roses and Romantic Aesthetics
Much of my inspiration comes from my own lush garden, filled with roses and beautiful plants. My love for fluffy clouds, ever-changing in form and color, also play a major role in my creative vision. Additionally, my own wedding—where I carried a bouquet of white roses—subtly influenced the theme of romance and timeless elegance in this packaging design.
Sketching & Refining the Illustration
Early sketches featured the couple in more traditional baroque attire, without their distinctive "chocolate wigs." As I worked through the vector illustration process, I realized the characters needed a more unique, playful element. That’s when the idea of integrating the chocolates into their hairstyles was born—bringing the product itself into the illustration in a whimsical and memorable way.
Initially, I explored several additional decorative elements: A melody in the form of floating lines of notes moving through the landscape, a pair of butterflies, and even hills shaped like oversized chocolates. While these concepts added charm, they ultimately made the composition too busy. The key to effective packaging design is clarity—ensuring the artwork stands out among competing products on the shelf. Refining the design meant simplifying the elements while keeping the most striking visual motifs.

The Evolution of Color: From Soft Rose-Gold to Vibrant Romantic Tones
The first iteration of the packaging was a delicate rose-gold design, emphasizing elegance and softness. The side panels featured a subtle rose pattern in matching tones.
While beautiful, I later decided to shift to a more vibrant color palette—deep pinks, rich reds, and lush greens—to make the design bolder and more modern. This enhanced visibility and gave the baroque-inspired artwork a fresh, contemporary appeal.
Hand Lettering: Creating a Signature Logo
A key part of the design is the "Rose Romance" logo, which I crafted by hand to blend seamlessly into the illustration while standing out as a distinct focal point. Its elegant serifs, curves and flourishes reflect the luxurious feel of the product, while the bold structure ensures clarity and readability. Later, I refined the lettering further by adding a delicate rose icon to reinforce the theme.

Final Thoughts: Storytelling with Packaging Illustration
"Rose Romance" is an example of how packaging design can tell a story, merging art, branding, and product experience into a single, compelling piece. This project allowed me to combine my expertise in packaging illustration, hand lettering, and food packaging design, creating something both visually delightful and commercially effective.
